The 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid

The MKZ is built on the same platform as the Ford Fusion and late Mercury Milan, and the Hybrid can be seen as a further upscale replacement for the Mercury Milan Hybrid. The regular MKZ's 3.5-liter V6 is replaced with a 156-hp, 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 40-hp electric traction motor running power to the front wheels via a CVT transmission. It's a full hybrid, the second generation of Ford's system, and capable of operating seamlessly in gasoline, electric, or combined modes. EPA mileage is 41 city, 36 highway, and with a 0-60 time around 8.5 seconds, acceleration for merging won't be a problem. Lincoln offers a new alternative for the luxury hybrid buyer in its MKZ Hybrid.

audi quattro

There aren’t many true landmark vehicles in the history of the car, but the Audi Quattro has a strong claim to be one of them. It introduced four wheel drive to road cars, and provided a way of harnessing very high levels of power to make high performance driving in all weathers and on all types of road more than enough excellent fists to make it a real contender for landmark vehicle status. The outcome of such innovation was a car that was both easier to drive and quicker point to point than a traditional supercar. It was also a huge success on the rally circuit. Not surprisingly, other manufactures could be seen making a very hasty and undignified rush to copy the format. The Quattro was based on the two door coupe version of the 80 saloon, and borrowed its transmission form the VW lltis military vehicle. Initially it was powered by a turbocharged 2.1 liter five cylinder engine, and divided the 200 bhp on tap equally between the front and rear wheels. Inside, the driver was provided information by the then futuristic digital instruments, adding a touch of science fiction innovation to the classically high standards of engineering and build quality that the ground breaking Quattro represented.

The Quattro concept was refined over the best part of decade, culminating in the 20V version. This had a new 2.3 liter turbocharged 20V engine, and the derivation had a ‘Torsen’ differential, the term is an acronym for torque Sensing, which could automatically send more power to the wheels to provide the most grip. It is still hailed as one of all time motoring greats, and its replacement, the S2 coupe could never deliver the Quattro raw edge thrills.

We were told the 2009 Infiniti FX was revealed last night at a swank cocktail function in Geneva. We were told we'd get to see the range-topping 2009 Infiniti FX50 drop deus ex machina-like from the heavens, ready to solve all our problematic desires for a new luxe Car-UV with a phallic-shaped front end. We were told we could gaze upon the curvaceous site-lines and peek at the 380-plus HP 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 in the FX50 (or dream about the upcoming 2009 Infiniti EX37 and G37 and their lower-powered V6 with details to be released at a later date under the hood) champagne in one hand and DSLR in the other. We were promised all sorts of candies and horns of ram overflowing with all the goodies and morsels we could ever desire. And we were ashamed that we missed such a splendid-sounding event. Oh, the sorrow. But then we heard the event last night had the crappiest lighting ever and everyone's photos came out looking grainy and over-exposed. Luckily we also received "tips" from marketers from a far away land about a website where all the information we would ever need on the new Infiniti crossover was readily accessed and clear of any shade or gloom of night. And thus, we provide you with the non-grainy pictures above and in the gallery below plus a full press release found below the jump. Fear not lover of live shots, we'll have some of those for you shortly.

Very impressive! A car completely covered with gold, you knew it existed? It looks like the answer is “yes”.

Nissan Maxima Best Car

Looks like despite an embargo officially dropping sometime tonight or tomorrow on the 2009 Nissan Maxima, it looks like the covers have been lifted a bit early. And after the new Maxima teaser shots we showed yesterday that showed us absolutely nothing, we're glad to finally have the official pics thanks to the boys at the site all about Fans of Cars from around the World. They've managed to procure a few shots of the new Maxima and here they are. We'll have a full set of live photos tomorrow at the official New York Auto Show unveil.Nissan Maxima
